Denmark, as the current president of this cooperation, today’s EU, therefore invited the National Agencies and the Erasmus ambassadors to Copenhagen to celebrate this anniversary together.

Erasmus Student Network AISBL (ESN) is an international umbrella organisation supporting and offering services to international students and in particular exchange students (Erasmus students) during their time abroad and representing them towards the institutional stakeholders. Its headquarters are based in Brussels, where the Board and the secretariat work together in an office located in the center of Brussels. ESN covers 36 countries and based in around 400 Higher Education Institutions.

For our third edition of the 25th Anniversary portraits we delved deep into the history of both the Erasmus programme and ESN, and thus had the pleasure to interview Désirée Majoor. Désirée was one of the first ever Erasmus students who went abroad in 1987, but she was also the first ever President of ESN. Thus, in this interview we had a chance to understand both how the exchange experience influenced Désirée and also how ESN was built up from the discussions of a few former Erasmus students in the late 1980s.

The call for the committee chairing teams for 2012-2013 are hereby open. Each chairing team will be elected internally by the respective committees and approved by the CNR Reykjavik, Iceland in May 2012. The deadline for the applications is 4th May 2012 23:59 CET.
Please note that the open call for the NEC chairing team was sent out already before and the deadline is the 20th April 2012 as all chairing team positions are currently vacant.

If the International Board had to say what was the busiest month of the year, it would be a challenge, but March would win (so far) as we had the pleasure of preparing and attending the Annual General Meeting in Granada. But to say that was only the important activity of the month would ignore all the other exciting events and developments that occurred, which we will tell you about here.
The Erasmus Student Network was invited to Brussels to take part in a Workshop called ''Young Policy Makers'' organised by the European Commission to brainstorm and discuss which will be the main challenges in 2040-2050 that policy makers can start addressing today.
From the 22nd-26th March, the biggest event in the calendar of ESN took place in Granada, Spain.
On a windy but sunny April afternoon in Ireland, the Lord Mayor of Dublin hosted Erasmus Student Network Ireland at his humble abode in the Mansion House. The event celebrates the success and the 25th Anniversary of the Erasmus programme, the world’s largest student exchange programme in which over two million students have participated since it’s inauguration in 1987.
Open Call for Video Crew

We are looking for a two person video crew, to plan, record and edit a professional high quality promotional video for SocialErasmus. The crew will travel together with the international coordinator to three countries to attend SocialErasmus activities during SocialErasmus week 4th to 11th of May 2012 where they collect footage for the video.
January was the month of grants and report writing, but February would most probably be characterized by work and preparations for the upcoming AGM in Granada and also National Platforms. There were many things going on in the ESN office and across the network which the board was involved in, and we hope to enlighten you here.
The main goals of the project ExchangeAbility (EA) is to enhance the exchange experience of students with disabilities and to make mobility accessible for everyone. The project does this by preparing the sections and International relations offices, making the universities accessible. Through the project ESN also wants to increase the number of students with disabilities who go on exchange, by changed conditions and promotion to students with disabilities.
Multicoloured balloons will fly above Sheffield to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a student exchange scheme. Erasmus Student Network UK (ESN UK) is celebrating the milestone with young people from all over the world attending a special birthday party in the capital.
